JR OL Prospect Richard Tuitu'u

One of the emerging best offensive line prospects for the class of 2005 in the state of Arizona is Gilbert Highland's Richard Tuitu'u. He says he has some early favorites...

Richard Tuitu'u, 6-4, 285, Gilbert (Ariz.) Highland, was a second team all-region selection as a junior and should contest for all-state honors this year.

His early favorites are Arizona, Florida, Nebraska, UCLA, and Washington, and Tuitu'u told us his early opinion of a couple of schools on his list.

With UCLA, Tuitu'u is impressed with the level of competition the Bruins will play against next year.

"First, what I like about UCLA is the weather," says Tuitu'u. "I love the state of California. I only have a little info on UCLA right now but I took a look at their schedule next year and they look like they will play against some tough competition and that is what I like. You do not know if you are the best unless you play the best."

Richard also likes Big 12 power Nebraska.

"They are a really big-time school and I know they do a lot of recruiting out in the Pac Ten area. So they probably have a lot of players from around here at their school."

He believes he will be recruited for the tackle position and thinks he has a lot of qualities to apply at the spot.

"I have really good feet. I think that I also have good leadership qualities because a lot of the younger players look up to me. I am a strong player."

His coach has high praise for him as well.

Highland Head Coach Preston Jones says of Tuitu'u, "He has outstanding feet and is only 16 so he is still very young. He is a hard worker and we have high expectations for him."

Richard says he might attend the ASU Junior Day later this month. He is unsure at this point of his summer camp plans.

Tuitu'u carries a 2.8 core GPA and will take the ACT next month. He would like to major in Business.
