Potential Elite Junior Wing Micah Downs

Micah Downs, a 6-7 junior small forward from Bothell, Washington, lists the schools that are showing him interest early, and tells us that a Big 12 program is at the top of his list...

We spoke with Micah Downs, 6-7 JR SF Bothell (Wash.) High, last night and asked him which programs are currently showing him the most interest.

"Kansas has shown a lot of interest," said Downs. "Washington, Michigan State, UCLA and UConn are all interested too."

Downs said a couple programs have formally offered scholarships at this time. "Washington State and Washington have offered," said Downs. "The other programs are all saying that they want me, but haven't actually offered yet."

We asked Downs if any school in particular tops his list and he replied, "Kansas is my favorite right now. They're always in the tournament -- they usually go pretty far – and they have a winning tradition. Coach Self is a great coach. He did well at Illinois and, even though he's had a little bit of a rough time this year, he's still doing pretty well – especially since it's his first year there."

Downs said he doesn't plan on making a decision until after the summer. "I'll pick a school after the summer," said Downs. "I want to see how I do in the summer and see who might offer me. Location doesn't matter – I'll go anywhere."

Downs will play at the Nike camp in July.
