JR OL Prospect Tevita Stevens

An offensive line prospect to watch is quick 6-3, 295-pound Tevita Stevens from Hemet. With some very impressive bloodlines, Stevens is hearing from many schools and has an early favorite...

Tevita Stevens, 6-3, 295, Hemet (Calif.) High, was selected first team all-league and was named his team's top offensive lineman last year.

He has some very impressive bloodlines. His brother played at BYU, he had a uncle play at Utah St., a cousin who was a player at Oregon State, and currently has another cousin on the USC squad.

His top six favorites are Nebraska, Arizona State, USC, UCLA, Cal, and Colorado. The Bruins are sitting as the leader.

"UCLA is my top school. I have family in L.A. and I was born there. I like it because it is close and I have always followed them."

On USC he says, "It is also close to home and they have always had a great football tradition. My quarterback is being recruited there (Brandis Dew) and we have been friends since third grade so it would be great if we could go to the same school."

On Nebraska he says, "I like that lineman they had there a couple of years ago that went to the Chargers. Nebraska is sending me a lot of letters." On Arizona State he says, "They have also sent me a lot of letters. I hear they have the number one weight room in the country and a good offensive line coach. I went to the Fiesta Bowl a few years ago when my cousin was playing for Oregon State and I got to see ASU's stadium and facilities. I was very impressed."

Tevita was named the top offensive lineman at last summer's BYU camp. He might attend the 'SC summer camp and did attend the Nike Combine at 'SC a few weeks ago.

On the field, he says he combines quick feet with natural strength.

Hemet Coach Andy Boynton says of Stevens, "He has very good agility and quickness. He is also an honor roll student."

Tevita carries a 4.0 core GPA and is taking the SAT soon. He would like to major in History.
