OL Prospect Dace Richardson

6-6, 300-pound offensive line prospect Dace Richardson is from Illinois, but he grew up a UCLA and USC fan. He has some schools from the midwest on his early list along with the two SoCal schools...

Offensive tackle prospect Dace Richardson from Wheaton Warrenville South (Ill.) is a large (6-6, 300, 5.0) O-lineman with nine early scholarship offers.

Dace denies a leader but favors Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, USC, UCLA and Illinois. Of those, only the Hawkeyes, Badgers and Illini have offered; But he also has offers from Northwestern, Purdue, Iowa St, Kentucky, Nebraska and Michigan St.

Despite living only two hours away from the Illinois campus, Dace's childhood favorites were USC and UCLA. "I was born in Woodland Hills (Calif) and lived there for about eleven years," said Richardson. "I moved to Illinois when I was in the sixth grade. UCLA has started to recruit me and asked my coach for a tape. USC hasn't had much contact with me, but I'll send them a tape anyway."

Dace has already attended a Junior Day at Wisconsin and plans to be at the Michigan spring game on March 27. He'll also be attending an Iowa camp this summer. "I liked the facilities at Wisconsin and I just had a good feel about them. They had a pretty decent year and are still getting better.

"I like Iowa because they send their OLs to the NFL. It's a great program and the team is always pretty good. But Michigan has great tradition and they produce great players too. I know they wanted to talk to me, so we'll see if they offer me this weekend when I'm at their spring game."

Dace says he is no hurry to narrow down his favorites or pick a school. "Over the summer I'll discuss it with my parents and start to narrow it down. I'd like to go to some games in the fall and see if I get that feeling while I'm there.

"Number one is academics and grad rate. Number two is football prestige and number three is location. I'm thinking about a warmer climate, but I'm so used to the cold it probably won't matter."

Dace bench presses 300 and squats 400. He has a vertical jump of 24".

"I'm real aggressive and I just like knocking people down. I have a defensive mentality of playing OL. Most O-linemen aren't as aggressive as me. I didn't play football as a frosh, so I was late to start lifting. I want to get stronger. I also want to improve my footwork and agility."

Richardson says he has a 2.7 GPA and will take the ACT on April 3rd.
