JR Tight End Prospect Vic So'oto

6-4, 220-pound Vic So'oto, from Carlsbad, plays both ways -- at tight end and linebacker -- and is getting attention from the Pac-10. The SoCal schools are his early favorites, and he says he has some connections into UCLA...

Vic So'oto, 6-4, 220, Carlsbad (Calif.) High, had 80 tackles and three forced fumbles on defense as a junior. On offense, he had 18 receptions for 400 yards and two touchdowns and was named second team all-Avocado league.

USC and UCLA are his co-leaders.

"I have a couple of friends from Carlsbad that went to UCLA, and they have talked it up a lot to me," said So'oto. "I went to two of their games last year and I really liked it. They have had some good players go through there and it would just be a great place to go."

As many players have mentioned previously, So'oto is very impressed by the 'SC coaches.

"They have a great coaching staff. I met them all at Junior Day and was really impressed. USC also has very nice facilities."

BYU, Florida State, and Oregon State round out his top five. UCLA is currently recruiting him the hardest. Vic is LDS and is looking for a school that is okay with him going on a mission.

He really likes both tight end and linebacker, but he thinks he projects on offense in college and so does his coach.

Carlsbad Head Coach Bob McAllister says of So'oto, "He needs to put on some weight, but he has the body to do it. Vic has a great work ethic and I believe he can be a prototype tight end in college."

Vic believes his greatest assets are his strength and speed.

He will attend the UCLA Junior Day and San Diego State Nike Combine. The day after the Nike festivities he will go to the USC skills camp. So'oto went to the BYU summer camp last year.

He carries a 3.2 core GPA and took his SAT last Saturday. Vic would like to major in Sports Medicine.
