OL/DL Prospect Richard Pacheco

A prospect to watch is lineman prospect Richard Pacheco, from Moreno Valley (Calif.) Canyon Springs. He's getting attention from the Pac-10 as well as the Big 12...

Richard Pacheco, 6-2, 265, Moreno Valley (Calif.) Canyon Springs, was very impressive at the recent UCLA Adidas Camp. He looked good in the one-on-one drills, simply over-powering many of his opponents.

He teams with 6-4, 30--pound Rodney Picou to form a daunting offensive line at Canyon Springs. The two are best friends, having grown up together, and they plan on attending many of the same summer camps and like a lot of the same schools.

"Some of the schools I like are Arizona State, Arizona, Cal, Nebraska, and UCLA," said Pacheco.

His father also mentioned that Colorado is a school he is considering, along with Utah. He went on to say that in the past month and a half they are receiving more attention from Colorado and Arizona and than any other schools.

Pacheco plans to attend a Nebraska camp with Picou this summer. "Nebraska tells me they are real interested in me," said Pacheco. "They have a tradition of having good linemen there."

UCLA is a school he grew up on, and he attended a couple of games last year and some practices. "It is close to home and I have been watching them since I was little. They are turning things around there and it is something I might like to be a part of."

ASU is another place he may visit this summer. "I like Arizona State because it is close to home and it seems like a fun place to play. I have a cousin who is a student there."

At the time of the interview, Nebraska was the only school to call Pacheco in May. Expect him to have many calls by month's end.

He carries a 3.0 core GPA and is awaiting his SAT score. Richard would like to major in Criminal Justice.
