WR Prospect Bret Lockett

He is definitely an unknown name in Southern California, but Diamond Bar (Calif.) High wide receiver Bret Lockett has made a name for himself so far this spring, having another good showing at the Nike Camp in Palo Alto...

Bret Lockett, 6-1, 188, Diamond Bar (Calif.) High, was among the best wide receivers at the Nike Camp in Palo Alto this weekend, which is saying something since the wide receivers were the deepest group at the camp.

Lockett is very good-sized, with a good body combined with good agility and hands, while also running a 4.57 40. He was right there among the four top wide receivers, including Desean Jackson, Jeremy Childs, and Austin Usher.

He's fairly unknown since he only caught for passes last year as a junior. "We had some pretty good receivers on our team last year," Lockett said. "And I've really developed since the season."

Lockett said that he's heard from Arizona and Oregon State primarily, and that Arizona has offered. "After my performance today," Lockett told us Saturday, "I've been told that Oregon State, too, has offered."

Lockett, however, said that the two local SoCal schools would be his favorites if they offered. "I've always been a USC and a UCLA fan," he said. "I'd be really interested if they were interested. I've been on USC's campus and they've shown a little interest. UCLA, I haven't heard from yet."

Lockett said he maintains a 3.05 GPA. He took the SAT once without studying and scored a 790, but said he'll prepare for the next attempt.
