James McDonald, 6-2, 185, Washington (D.C.) Dunbar, came all the way out west to attend UCLA's four-day camp.

McDonald looked good, with good quickness for his size and nice athleticism.

UCLA has offered McDonald a scholarship. He said that Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Penn State, Connecticut, Utah, and Kansas have also offered.

The senior-to-be that had 75 catches for about 1,000 yards and 14 touchdowns last season said he has a foursome of favorites. "UCLA, Penn State, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh are the top four right now. The top three would probably be UCLA, Penn State and Pittsburgh. I also like Utah and Boston College."

While he was at UCLA last week he said he really had a good time. "It's a great campus, just beautiful. The whole place, the location, is really nice. I didn't really get a chance to do much, since we were playing a lot of football. The coaches, too, were great. I really liked them."

For McDonald, going away to school didn't appear to be a problem. "If I'd come this far for a summer camp, I can come this far for college," he said.

McDonald said he has a 3.3 GPA and a 970 SAT. He intends to take the SAT again to try to get a higher score.
