Cornerback Grant Crunkleton (5-11, 170) is another prospect from Mullen that the Bruins have been recruiting, along with running back Maurice Greer, and Crunkleton has reciprocated the interest in UCLA.
"Coach (Jon) Embree is recruiting me, and I used to go to the CU camps and he was one of the coaches there, so I knew him, and I knew Coach (Eric) Bieniemy too," said Crunkleton.
Crunkleton spent two days at UCLA's Camp this past June, and enjoyed his visit to Westwood as well as the time at the camp.
"The campus was really nice, and I enjoyed playing at the camp. I didn't get a whole lot of time to spend around though since I was only there for two days, but it was cool."
He also attended Kansas State's camp, and said because he went there and UCLA's camp, he'll probably skip them when it comes to official visits in the fall.
"I'll take my official trips to schools I haven't been to," said Crunkleton.
He has offers from Kansas State, Arizona State, Oregon, and Colorado, and a verbal offer from Colorado State. Those five schools, plus UCLA, who hasn't offered, are his top schools, all of which he says are even.
He said, "After the camp, I think UCLA is close to offering. I could definitely go away from Colorado. Jesse is trying to get me to go there."
Crunkleton wants to take 2-3 official trips before deciding, and see if a few other offers come by.
Last season, he had 108 tackles, 9 interceptions and a fumble recovery for Mullen.
He has a 3.0 GPA and scored a 22 on his ACT.
