Brandon Gray, 6-5, 280, Cathedral City (Calif.) High, has been to many UCLA games this year and said that UCLA has been recruiting him for a while.
"They recruited me all through the season. I actually haven't heard from them lately, but I think [UCLA offensive line] Coach Weber is talking to my high school coach," Gray said.
As of right now, Gray said he's being recruited by UCLA, Arizona State, Arizona and UNLV. He has been offered by UNLV only, and has an official visit to Las Vegas set for January 11th. "The other schools have talked about trips but we haven't set any up," he said.
Gray said UCLA was his favorite school growing up, but not because of football. "I was a basketball player. I didn't start playing football until my sophomore year. I got taller and bigger and decided to play football, so I just kept liking UCLA."
Gray, who also starts at power forward for his high school basketball team, said he had a very successful football season, thinking that he took his game to another level for his senior season. "I was pretty happy with the way I played," he said. He's getting recruited as both an offensive and defensive lineman but thinks he'll play offensive line in college.
When asked if he'd commit if UCLA offered, Gray said, "I could. The most important thing for me is academic reputation and sports reputation. UCLA has it both. So, I don't know. I'd probably want to think about it and take a trip, but I could commit."
Gray said he maintains a 2.9 GPA and scored an 870 on his SAT.
