Willie Andrews, 5-10, 175, 4.4, Longview HS, Longview, Texas, one of the top multiple-position prospects in Texas and possibly the nation, had planned on visiting UCLA this weekend, but the visit has been pushed back to possibly January.
Andrews just returned from his first official visit, to Baylor, this past weekend. "Baylor is showing a lot of interest," Andrews said.
After the holidays, Andrews will be going to Alabama (1/11), Texas A&M (1/18) and Notre Dame (1/25). The UCLA trip was postponed because of scheduling, but Andrews said he intends to arrange a midweek trip to Westwood in January.
A month ago, Andrews said that UCLA was his clear leader, but now he says he has no leader.
All the schools above have made in-home visits except Alabama. The Notre Dame in-home visit was by the former staff. A coach from SMU came to see Andrews at school on Wednesday, and he was impressed enough to offer a scholarship. So far he has offers from Baylor, SMU and Notre Dame (again, from the former coaching staff).
As far as staying close to home Andrews said he has no problem going out of state. "I'm pretty wide open at the moment," Andrews said. While his parents are giving him plenty of support, they are leaving the final decision up to him. He said he intends to take all his trips before he makes a decision.
Andrews certainly showed his versatility this year for Longview, which went 7-5 and bowed out of the second round of the playoffs for the season. At tailback he had 177 carries for 1,291 yards and 15 TDs. He had 13 receptions for 241 yards and a TD as a wideout. He even threw a pass for 38 yards. On defense he had three interceptions. All the schools are recruiting Andrews primarily as a cornerback.
Andrews reportedly has a 2.9 GPA and scored an 1010 on his SAT.Willie Andrews Player Profile
