Gettis' List Firming Up

One of the fastest athletes on the west coast is Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey wide receiver David Gettis. Gettis says he knows of three schools he'll visit officially...

There is no wide receiver in California that has the combination of size and speed that Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey's David Gettis has. At 6-4 and 200 pounds, Gettis can also scoot with a 4.4 40. Schools are recruiting him in track and football. He has received a few phone calls in the latest contact period.

"Washington State, Arizona State, USC (track), and Arizona called me," said Gettis. "The USC call was about track and I wasn't here when Arizona called so my mom spoke with the coach."

When asked his favorites, he responded, "I like 'SC, LSU, Cal, Washington, UCLA, and Arizona State. I have no clear favorite and I am open to all schools."

He had a chance to view The Bruins' first game. "I am hopeful that UCLA will step up this year. I watched that game and when they went up 14-0 I thought they had a good shot at winning. They definitely had their good spots when they played well. It just seems like their run D collapsed."

Gettis elaborated on his interest in the Bruins. "I have always liked them and I am hoping to get up there for a game, or two this fall."

Gettis says that Arizona State is showing him the most interest. "I like that Arizona State passes a lot. I am gradually trying to learn more about each school I am looking at and they are one of them."

Written offers are on the table from the Wildcats, Devils, and Huskies. He is already thinking about what schools he will visit. "Arizona State, LSU, and Washington will most likely get visits. I also want to visit someone for track."

The no.14 prospect in the west would really like to run track and play football at his college of choice. The school right now who is acting like the most willing to let him do that is USC. Gettis' specialty is the 400 meter where he has a personal best of 46.3. He will be making an unofficial trip to watch the Trojans take on the Colorado State Rams on Saturday.

Dorsey faces Harbor City Narbonne in their first game of the season tomorrow night.
