2006 West Coast Rankings:
Small Forwards

The talent level is good, with Chase Budinger, Phil Nelson, Kevin Galloway and Blake Wallace among the top small forwards in the west for 2006...

The West Coast class of 2006 is loaded with quality small forward prospects. In addition to being the top propsect on this list, Budinger is also an elite volleyball prospect. A very good shooter, Budinger has the size and hops to play effectively around the basket as well. He has a good feel for the game and plays unselfishly. Wallace is long and lean, with some point forward attributes. He handles the ball very well and he's a solid shooter out to the three-point line. Galloway is a terrific athlete with a great bball body. He's most effective slashing to the basket and playing in transition. Pondexter is another big-time athlete. He has a chance to be an excellent defender. His outside shot is coming along, but he's also best when slashing to the basket. Nelson has all the tools to be an exceptional player. He has a nice stroke with range, excellent ball skills and good length. He needs to work on staying focused, but his upside is as high as any player on this list.

UCLA will definitely pursue Budinger and Wallace, since they're local. Galloway and Nelson could have academic issues that might preclude UCLA from recruiting them. Pondexter is another to definitely watch.
