So'oto Looks Good, Getting Attention

The 6-3, 220-pound tight end/athlete from Carlsbad (Calif.) High, Vic So'oto, has looked very good in his first three games of the season. He talks recruiting while still unsure of his LDS mission...

After three games, Carlsbad (Calif.) stands at 3-0, behind the arm of Oregon State-bound quarterback Sean Canfield, as well as the play of tight end/linebacker Vic So'oto (6-3, 220).

Through the first three games, Carlsbad is averaging 42 points a game, and So'oto is doing it on both sides of the field. "We've been playing real well," So'oto said. "We had a big win this weekend (over Chula Vista). We've just been real focused on our opponent, instead of looking ahead."

So'oto is getting a lot of attention since September 1st, having most of the Pac-10 and Mountain West calling him.

"I've heard from UCLA, USC, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Arizona State, Arizona, BYU, Utah and San Diego," said So'oto.

So'oto has offers from Utah, BYU, San Diego State and Arizona.

When asked if he had a top five, So'oto said he had six schools he was seriously considering. "My top five is probably UCLA, San Diego State, BYU, Utah and Arizona. Oregon is in there too," he said.

So'oto, who is LDS, is still undecided about his mission, saying he could take it after his freshman year, or wait until later.

"I'm still thinking about it, but I'll decide soon," said So'oto.

So'oto is now in the process of setting up his official visits for this fall, with none firmly set in stone.

He has a 3.3 GPA and has a test scored which qualifies him by NCAA standards.
