Things Change for Brown

Tight end/athlete Charles Brown, the 6-5, 250-pounder from Pomona (Calif.) Diamond Ranch, had verbally committed to USC, but now the situation has changed for him...

Charles Brown, 6-5, 250, Pomona (Calif.) Diamond Ranch, is one of the top tight end prospects in the nation and he also has the frame to grow into an offensive tackle. He had committed to USC but is now opening things up.

"I got an offer from UCLA, in writing, last week so now them and USC are my leaders," explained Brown. "I still consider myself committed to USC but my family wants me to keep my options open. They really like either one of those schools.

"At UCLA, I have the chance to play earlier and I like the campus better. At USC, they are a winning program and I like the way their players play fast and they all put in a team effort."

Three other schools in the mix are Arizona, Oregon, and San Diego State. "Arizona is rebuilding and I think I could play early there. They like me as a tight end and so does UCLA. USC is not sure where they like me."

Brown claims the Bruins, Trojans, and Cats are currently after him the hardest.

Tight Ends Coach Brennan Carroll is after him for the Trojans, while running backs Coach Eric Bieniemy is recruiting him for the Bruins. The prospect speaks with both coaches on a weekly basis.

On the season, he has 15 receptions and two touchdowns on offense and figures he has over 10 sacks on defense. Diamond Ranch is 6-1-1 and they take on Ontario, this Friday.
