"Yeah, I was going to trip this weekend, but we had our semifinal game (against Lakewood)," said Childs. "And the (UCLA) coaches said to take it later this month so I have the whole weekend."
So instead of visiting UCLA this weekend, Childs will be in Westwood on the weekend of December 17th for his official visit.
"I was just glad we won on Friday," said Childs, who didn't have the game he had become accustomed to this season, given Lakewood's stout defense.
He appeared to be close to making a decision during the summer, but said he is glad he has waited it out. "It's better that I waited to make sure and see all my options," said Childs. "I almost committed to UCLA during the summer, but I'm glad I'm checking all the schools I like out."
On the year, Childs has had a monster season, with almost 80 catches for just under 1100 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also broke the Orange County career reception record.
Childs holds a 3.3 GPA.
