Houston Picks Texas

After taking an official visit to UCLA over the weekend, Colorado running back Michael Houston committed to where he was leaning, Texas.

UCLA was in it to the end with Denver (Colo.) Montbello running back Michael Houston (6-0, 240), but in the end, the allure of immediate playing time and the legacy of running backs was enough to push Houston to commit to Texas.

"I thought long and hard about it," said Houston. "I really enjoyed my visit to UCLA and loved talking with Coach (Eric) Bieniemy, but in the end, Texas had a better situation for me at running back."

With a history of Heisman Trophy winning running backs for the Longhorns, the heritage at Texas was enough to sway him.

"There is a lot of tradition at Texas and to follow in the footsteps of Ricky Williams and Cedric Benson is an honor," said Houston.

Houston said the Bruins were very involved in the recruiting process and he nearly committed to the Bruins following his official trip, but he went with his heart, which was focused on the Longhorns.

"UCLA was an awesome school, and a great visit. I really enjoyed it but I just had to do what was best for me.
