Rodriguez Still Waiting On Offer

The 6-5, 295-pound offensive line prospect, Arturo Rodriguez from Las Vegas, has nine offers and a new leader, while still waiting to see what UCLA will do...

A few weeks ago, Las Vegas (Nev.) High offensive lineman Arturo Rodriguez (6-5, 295) felt like UCLA was close to an offer, but then no offer came.

The Bruins are still in the mix for him, he said an offer would most likely lead to a commitment.

But since that time, Rodriguez has named a new leader, New Mexico.

"I took a trip to New Mexico and I'm really liking them right now," Rodriguez said. "I like Coach (Rocky) Long a lot. It's a really good school."

To date, he has offers from Oregon, Oregon State, Utah, UNLV, New Mexico, San Diego State, Colorado State, and Nevada.

His lone official visit was to New Mexico, and he said in January he expects to trip to UNLV, Colorado State, Oregon and Nevada.

"But if UCLA wants me to trip in, I could cancel one of the other ones and visit there. I really like New Mexico a lot, but if I could play in the Pac-10 that would be my first choice."

Rodriguez was a first-team All-State selection by the Las Vegas Review Journal, and said that with Mike Sanford now coaching at UNLV, he could continue his career in-state. "Yeah, UNLV is coming on right now with the new coach. I'm looking at them a lot," said Rodriguez.

Rodriguez did say he expects to go to a UCLA practice in Las Vegas next week, and was undecided if he will attend the game.
