Bruins Get OL Commit From Backyard

Fresh off helping lead Long Beach (Calif.) Poly to the CIF Division I crown, offensive tackle Justin Brown gave the Bruins a verbal commitment

UCLA added their second offensive linemen to their 2005 recruiting class when Long Beach (Calif.) Poly offensive tackle Justin Brown (6-6, 270) gave a verbal commitment to the Bruins.

Brown committed to UCLA a week ago, but kept it quiet to make it on his official trip. Another recruit hinted at the commitment, and Brown confirmed it to us on his trip.

"I did commit to UCLA," Brown said Saturday. "I think coach (Tom) Cable is an awesome offensive line coach and I think he'll get the most out of me. I think it's just the best place for me."

An anchor on the Jackrabbits offensive line, Brown was instrumental on Poly's first CIF Title since 2001 a week ago.

Brown said he had scholarship offers from Utah, Fresno State and UTEP.

Brown will most likely play tackle in college.
