Junior wide receiver prospect Daniel Lofton, 6-1, 190, San Diego (Calif.) Westview, is the son of NFL legend, James Lofton.

Lofton was one of the top receivers we saw all of last year at the MSL Combines. Unfortunately, during the early testings, Lofton pulled up lame as he was polishing off a 4.63 electronic 40 time. "I pulled my hip flexor," explained Lofton. "It is the same one that was injured last season. I also had a separated shoulder last year which is why I could only play in seven games."

In those seven contests, he recorded 16 catches for 450 yards and three touchdowns at Poway High in San Diego. Lofton will transfer to Westview for his senior year.

The receiver has a verbal scholarship offer from San Diego State. His father is the receivers coach for the Aztecs. They are one of his five favorites along with UCLA, USC, Notre Dame, and Washington State. "My favorites are 'SC and UCLA. I have always loved the school at UCLA. They have great tradition and it is a nice place. I think that they need some good receivers to get things going there. I have been to a few games at the Rose Bowl and really like it."

On his questionairre for the U.S. Army Combine this last weekend, Lofton listed UCLA as his favorite.

In regard to USC, Lofton said, "I love Coach (Pete) Carroll at USC. He is a hands-on guy and the rest of their coaches seem that way, too. It is also close and it is a great school."

Lofton lists his strengths. "I run good, precise routes. I am good against press coverages and great as a downfield blocker."

He carries a 3.1 core GPA and scored a 1070 on his Pre-SAT. He'll take his ACT in February. Lofton would like to major in Psychiatry or Psychology.
