Charles Brown Still Taking Visits

Tight end/athlete Charles Brown took his third official visit, to another Pac-10 school, and he has one more planned for this weekend. He talks about how he feels about the four schools he's considering...

Pomona (Calif.) Diamond Ranch tight end Charles Brown (6-6, 250, 4.9,'s #24 TE, 3 stars) maintains there is no leader amongst Arizona State (1/21 official trip), UCLA (12/17), USC (12/10) and Oregon (1/7), yet says he is still somewhat committed to the Trojans, at least privately.

"I don't have a leader out of these schools yet," said Brown. "But I'm still a soft verbal to USC and that's between me and my family."

On Arizona State: "I like how Arizona State uses their tight ends a lot, but I haven't been up there yet so I don't know that much about them."

On UCLA: "UCLA is in some need of tight ends. I get along real good with coach (Jon) Embree (tight ends). It looks like their program is up and coming…definitely on the rise."

On USC: "USC is a winning program already. If I end up there I'll be able to compete against the best everyday in practice. Plus they're national champs again."

On Oregon: "Oregon is a really nice school. They've got the best campus I've seen so far. But I think I'd have to get used to the small town and the distance. I'd have a good opportunity to get some early playing time at tight end if I go there. Nuvraj Bassi (defensive tackle) was my host on the trip to Oregon. We went to a party and went paintballing--he also showed me around the dorms and stuff. The highlight of that trip was being around the team and going around the campus. "I get along good with the coaches there and they've got a good reputation of sending a lot of their tight ends to the NFL. I'd have a good chance to get to the next level if I went there."

In his senior season, Brown had 250 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Playing defense he recorded 70 tackles and 10 sacks.

Academically he has a 2.8 GPA and scored a 930 on the SAT, but could retake it.
