McCovey to Visit This Weekend

After a bit of a snag last weekend, Lakewood (Calif.) High linebacker Adrian McCovey will indeed take his official visit to UCLA this weekend, and then make his decision...

Lakewood (Calif.) linebacker Adrian McCovey (6-3, 218) finally has an official visit set for the final weekend of the recruiting season.

Originally scheduled to visit Westwood last weekend, McCovey had the trip postponed while UCLA tried to get a class of his cleared through admissions.

On Tuesday, McCovey received the news from the UCLA staff that his class, did in fact, get cleared, and he will take his final official visit this weekend to UCLA.

"I wanted to visit there last weekend, but then they said I couldn't come yet because of my algebra class. Then I heard from them that everything's cool. So I'll go there this weekend. I'm looking forward to going there," said McCovey. "It's my last trip because signing day's next week."

McCovey tried to get a trip to Oregon planned last weekend in lieu of the UCLA trip, but a stolen wallet prevented him from having the right ID to fly. He was scheduled to visit Miami this weekend, but said the Hurricanes aren't an option. "They got like five linebackers coming in already, so they didn't have any more scholarships for linebackers."

Now, McCovey will take what will be his fourth visit, after previously tripping to Oregon State, Arizona and Oklahoma.

He'll then decide pretty quickly. "After my trip, I'll talk with my family and decide. Probably next week, sometime," said McCovey.
