Pomona (Calif.) Diamond Ranch tight end Charles Brown has goen back and forth over the last 48 hours between UCLA and USC. The word is that he'd decide on one school, and then talk to the coaches of the school he didn't chose and they'd sway him back. As of this morning, it appears he's currently swaying toward USC.
Lnebacker target Adrian McCovy from Lakewood (Calif.) High isited UCLA this past weekend and told us he enjoyed his visit and likes the Bruin staff's plans for him in the UCLA defense. Arizona has been his leader for a while, and the Wildcats have a strong chance of getting him. The most recent reports have McCovy more than likely choosing Arizona. It had been thought that if his teammate and fellow linebacker Luthur Brown chose Arizona, it could sway him to Arizona also. But many close to the situation believe that McCovy might want to get out from under Brown's shadow and go where Brown isn't. The recent word is that Brown looks like he's going to USC, so that could open up the chances more for McCovy to go to Arizona.
McCovy will announce today at a news conference in the afternoon at his high school.
One line of thought on Peninsula tight end Erik Lorig had him eliminating USC, who was once thought to be the heavy favorite, and then choosing between Cal and UCLA, with Cal being the widely held choice. But there are conflicting reports that USC and Stanford are still very much involved. We've heard from multiple sources that Lorig has gotten tight with several of the incoming UCLA recruits, but it remains to be seen if that is enough to pull him away from the other California schools. He'll announce today at his school also.
Finally, there is a strong rumor that UCLA will have a good surprise on signing day in regards to recruiting, or soon after.
