UCLA looks like it won't waste much time in recruiting for 2006.

Walter Watts, a 6-4, 290-pound offensive tackle prospect from Los Banos (Calif.) High, will verbally commit very soon, according to Watts' mother.

"Oh yes, Walter is really excited about it," said his mother, Lanette. "He went to games there and camp, and the coaches offered him a scholarship. He was going to commit later today or tomorrow."

Watts has already been recognized as one of the top offensive linemen in the West for next year. He was named to the San Joaquin All-Section team this year as a junior and, possessing great athleticism for his size, is a starting forward for Los Banos's basketball team. He is averaging around 10 points and 4 rebounds a game, and scored 22 points in his most recent game.

Watts has grown since the summer, when he camped at UCLA and was measured at 6-3 and 275. When he was at the camp, we reported that he had good quickness and instincts.

His mother said UCLA was his favorite school for a long ime, and thats why he committed.
