Update on Center Ray Hall

The 6-10, 270-pound junior center, Ray Hall from Denver (Col.) Mullen, intends to take an official visit this spring, and says that only one school has called him since college coaches could begin calling in March...

Ray Hall, 6-10 JR C Denver (Col.) Mullen, is one of the elite big men in the west for 2006. He's a true five, with a big body and surprisingly soft hands. He's got good feet – he appears more nimble now than he did in July – and he's an excellent passer out of the post. With continued development, we expect Hall to be mentioned this summer with the top post players in the country.

We spoke with Hall last night and asked him if he had started to form a list of schools.

"My list right now is UCLA, Kansas, North Carolina, Georgia Tech and Illinois," said Hall.

College coaches were allowed to start calling juniors on March 1st. When asked which schools have called him in recent weeks, Hall replied, "UCLA is the only school that has called so far. I talked to Coach Howland."

Hall said he may try to take an official visit in the spring. "I might take a visit over spring break or during Easter weekend," said Hall. "I would probably go to UCLA first since that's the closest one."

While he could make some early visits, Hall said he's in no hurry to make his decision. "I want to wait until after the summer," said Hall. "I'll probably decide in August or September."

One rumor circulating in Southern California recently has Hall transferring to Artesia High in Lakewood, Calif. next year. We asked Hall about the rumor.

"I haven't heard that one," replied Hall. "More than likely I'll be in Colorado next year."

Hall said his overall GPA is currently 2.98 and he has yet to take the SAT.
