2006: Colin Baxter

The 6-4, 280-pound Colin Baxter from Rolling Hills (Calif.) Palos Verdes Peninsula is considered one of the best line prospects in SoCal. The junior teammate of Erik Lorig already has one Pac-10 scholarship offer...

While UCLA still waits for the decision from Rolling Hills (Calif.) Palos Verdes Peninsula recruit Eric Lorig for the class of 2005, they're now recruiting another prospect from Peninsula in the 2006 class.

Offensive lineman Colin Baxter (6-4, 280) is the next in line at Peninsula, and the versatile lineman is beginning to field several calls from colleges. "I have an offer from Arizona," said Baxter. "I'm also hearing from California, USC, Stanford, UCLA, Oregon, Nebraska, LSU, Miami and Colorado."

Among those, Baxter said he has a top four of Arizona, Cal, UCLA and USC.

Baxter attended UCLA's Junior Day earlier this month, and said it was a positive experience for him. "It's a real nice campus. They have nice facilities and I liked the coaching staff. I really like (Offensive Line) Coach (Tom) Cable," said Baxter.

Playing tackle for Peninsula, Baxter thinks he'll most likely end up at guard in college, but could even play center if necessary. "I'll play wherever they can get me on the field. But if I had to choose, it would be on the left side," said Baxter.

Baxter's only camp plan for the spring and summer is to attend the Nike Camp in Los Angeles next month. He said he'll also possibly take some unofficial trips during the summer, while also doing the Junior Day circuit. "I went to UCLA's Junior Day, and I'll be at USC's Junior Day and then Cal's next month," said Baxter.

He has no immediate plans for a commitment, wanting to take his trips and seeing as much as he can. "But I won't be like Lorig," joked Baxter. "I'll decide by Signing Day."

Baxter has a 3.4 GPA and will take the SAT on June 4th.
