If UCLA is going to continue to have a recruiting presence in Louisiana, it looks inevitable that they'll go head-to-head with in-state powerhouse LSU.

And Bruin recruiting coordinator Eric Bieniemy is going right into Tiger country with the recruitment of Baton Rouge (LA.) Redemdorist defensive end Jonathan Hollins (6-4, 240).

"Coach Bieniemy is a good person. I like him a lot and I like UCLA," said Hollins. "

The Bruins are in Hollins' top five, along with traditional Southern powers Miami, Georgia, Clemson and LSU.

Hollins has one offer so far, from Ole Miss, and is also hearing from USC and Texas Tech outside of his leaders.

The local powerhouse could also have the hometown edge. "I like LSU, because they're real close to home and my family, but I'm also thinking of leaving the state and playing. But I'm in no rush to decide," said Hollins.

Hollins did say he was also undecided about when he would make a decision. "I may wait and do it after the season, or I might do it before so I can focus on the season. But I know I need to focus on school right now," said Hollins.

Academically, Hollins is carrying a 2.7 GPA and will take the ACT again in April.

Last season, Hollins had 64 solo tackles and 12 sacks from his rush end position, and also tallied an interception, two fumble recoveries, a touchdown and 12 tackles for loss.
