While UCLA has been a frequent visitor to the South the last few years, Alabama has been one place they have spent little time. That's changing some this year with the Bruins recruiting Birmingham (Ala.) Carver defensive end Reginald Stokes (6-3, 230).

The speed-rushing end has the Bruins among a host of his top schools, which have a heavy Southern flavor to it, while also including USC.

"I'm getting letters and calls from Alabama, Louisville, UCLA, USC, Tennessee, Auburn and Ole Miss," said Stokes. "I don't have any offers yet, though."

Stokes said he is wide open at this point, but his favorite school growing up was Alabama. "You either want to go to Alabama or Auburn when you live here, but now I'm getting to see other schools around the country," said Stokes.

UCLA recruiting coordinator Eric Bieniemy is the point-man for the UCLA staff. Stokes said while the family preference is to stay in SEC country, they want him to make his own decision. "My family said I need to do what is best for me, what the best fit is, wherever that is," said Stokes.

Stokes will be attending the Nike Camp at Georgia in May, but hasn't made any summer camp plans.

He holds a 3.0 GPA and will be taking the SAT this spring.
