Now his cousin seems to be taking over the mantle, as he starts to rack up scholarship offers himself.
Tallahassee (Fla.) Rickards receiver Anthony Jones (6-2, 171, 4.4) has received four offers so far, and is hearing from a few more, including UCLA.
Jones listed his top three at this point as hometown Florida State, Alabama and Oklahoma, but that UCLA, Auburn and Florida are all heavily in the mix. "I'm not making any decision until Signing Day. I'm going to take my trips, so all the schools I'm hearing from have a shot."
Including UCLA. You might remember, there was some late interest in UCLA from Rouse last year and there is some early interest from Jones. "I could definitely go out to UCLA," said Jones. "It's whatever the best fit for me is. My family wants me to stay in the South, but they also want what's best for me, so if I have to leave the South, I would. And UCLA is a great school in a great place, and they always have good teams. I could go there."
UCLA coach Eric Bieniemy is recruiting Jones for the Bruins.
Last season, Jones had 68 catches for 1,113 yards and 11 touchdowns and was an all-state selection for Rickards.
This summer, he'll be heading to the USF Passing League tournament, and his only camp scheduled is the May 1st Nike Camp at Florida State.
Academically, Jones carries a 2.8 GPA and will take the SAT in June.
