Could Brandon Bennett Be Next?

The huge offensive line prospect, Brandon Bennett, made some statements last night that might lead one to believe that he could be the next commitment for the 2006 class...

With scholarships running out on UCLA's offensive line, La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat tackle Brandon Bennett (6-5, 340) could be the next to pop for UCLA.

"Right now, UCLA is my leader. I'm liking them a lot right now," said Bennett. "I want to enjoy the recruiting process, but I might just go ahead and commit to them. I wouldn't want to not have a scholarship there for me. I really like them. I'll probably do it in the next month."

The mammoth offensive tackle has been on the Bruins radar for a while, and at Junior Day, Bennett spent time with Bishop Amat alum and UCLA recruiting coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

Bennett said, "Coach Bieniemy is a great guy and a legend at Bishop. I really like the coaches there. Coach (Tom) Cable is a great coach and I like Coach (Karl) Dorrell a lot too."

Aside from the Bruins, Bennett is hearing from Colorado State and Washington the most, though neither have offered.

Bennett attended the Nike Camp this past weekend and was pleased with his performance there. "It went really good for me and I enjoyed it. I did good in both the testing and in the 1-on-1's, but I thought I did my best in the 1-on-1's. I didn't get beat there."

Bennett isn't done with camps though, with plans to attend the Adidas Camp at UCLA later this month, the Scout Camp next month and a camp at USC, along with the UCLA 4-Day Camp.

Academically, Bennett carries a 2.8 and will take the SAT on May 7.
