A linebacker from Northern California that is getting some attention early on, including from UCLA, is Loomis (Calif.) Del Oro's Ben Chandler (6-3, 205).

Chandler has been hearing from most of the Pac-10, and has one offer so far, from Boise State. He's also hearing UNLV, Nebraska, and Miami.

"My top five is Boise State, California, Nebraska, Oregon and Washington State," said Chandler. "There are some other schools that I'm hearing from too, like UCLA and Oregon State that I like."

Chandler received the offer from Boise State early on, a thought not lost on Chandler.

"I want to commit before my season starts, so having the offer from Boise State really helps. I'm hoping the schools recruiting me give me an offer soon so I can see what my options are," said Chandler.

When making a decision, Chandler said several things will play a factor.

"The atmosphere of the school, will be something I'll look at. How the team is together and how the coaching staff is. I'm going to take some unofficial trips this summer and hopefully get a better idea."

Chandler attended Cal's Junior Day and will also be at Oregon's Junior Day. He's planning to be at the Nike Camp at Stanford.

During his junior season, Chandler had 103 tackles, 3 blocked punts (1 for a safety and 1 for a touchdown), 3 fumble recoveries and 3 forced fumbles. Del Oro fell to UCLA-bound Ryan Moya and Oak Ridge in the playoffs.

Academically, Chandler has a 3.0 GPA and scored a 1610 on the new SAT.
