UCLA Recruiting Athlete from Inland Empire

UCLA has done well recruiting in the Inland Empire, and they're back again recruting Rancho Cucamonga defensive end/linebacker/athlete Devin Johnson...

Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) High has sent one player to UCLA in recent years, offensive tackle Brian Abraham, and the Bruins are back in the Inland Empire recruiting linebacker Devin Johnson (6-2, 210).

Johnson has four offers so far, from Oregon State, Washington, Arizona State and Arizona, while also getting strong interest from LSU, Oregon, Colorado and UCLA.

"I'm pretty open right now. I really like Arizona, Oregon, UCLA and Colorado, but it's still really early," said Johnson, who's being recruited by Eric Bieniemy for the Bruins.

At last month's Nike Camp in Los Angeles, Johnson clocked a 4.85 forty, did 18 reps on the bench and jumped 30 inches on the vertical.

"I wasn't happy with my time. I know I'll clock better soon," said Johnson.

He'll get another crack at it at the Scout.com Combine this month in Los Angeles, which he is set to attend.

As a junior, Wright had 11 sacks and 77 tackles while blocking 3 punts and 3 field goals. "I have good game speed and instincts," he said.

Johnson said no decision is coming any time soon, choosing instead to pace himself and make some visits.

He is holding a 2.3 GPA and will take the SAT in June.
