Louisiana DE Likes UCLA

UCLA continues to make headway in the South, and a defensive line target from the Bayou, Boutte (La.) Hahnville DE Kentrell Lockett has strong interest in the Bruins...

UCLA's search for recruits in Louisiana continues to happen and the Bruins have offered a defensive end from Boutte (La.) Hahnville in Kentrell Lockett (6-5, 210).

UCLA offered the pass-rusher in March and they are one of his four offers. Aside from the Bruins, Lockett has an offer from Mississippi, Mississippi State and West Virginia.

"Those schools are my favorites and so is LSU," said Lockett, who said he expects the in-state Tigers to be his next offer. "It doesn't matter to me if I stay in the South or go out West, I just want a good opportunity to play."

Lockett is being recruited by running backs coach Eric Bieniemy, who continues to make headway in the Bayou.

"Coack Bieniemy said they have a lot of players from Louisiana at UCLA and that I'd be another guy he'd like to have there from down here. He's a cool dude, real honest and straight forward and respectful. UCLA is one of my top schools. It sounds like a good opportunity."

Lockett is scheduled to attend the Nike Camp at Ole Miss later this month, and will also be at the Scout Combine at Tulane. He'll be attending the Ole Miss and LSU team camps this summer.

During his junior year, Lockett had 70 tackles, 16 sacks, recovered 7 fumbles and had 12 more tackles for loss.

"I love to rush the quarterback, but I'm not just a pass-rusher. I can stop the run too."

Lockett won't make a hasty decision, instead he'll take his five visits and choose sometime near Signing Day.

He has a 2.8 GPA and takes the SAT in June.
