There is a strong Southwest and Midwest flavor to the list of scholarship offers for Richardson (Texas) Berkner defensive end Ugonna Chinasa (6-5 ½, 225), but one California school finds itself amongst his double-digit offers, UCLA.

Chinasa's offers come from Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, Oklahoma State, UCLA, SMU, Nebraska, Kansas State and Colorado State.

"My top five schools are Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor and Oklahoma State," said Chinasa. "I think I'm staying down in the Southwest."v Chinasa said the strong family ties are what will most likely keep him in the South. But he hasn't fully eliminated leaving that region. "If I decide to leave this area, UCLA would be a place I'd look at. They have a good school and good football team," said Chinasa, who is being recruited by UCLA assistant Eric Bieniemy. "Them and Stanford are recruiting me pretty hard."

Chinasa hasn't attended any camps thus far, but will be at Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M this summer.

As a junior, Chinasa had 65 tackles, 4 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries and a pick he took back for a touchdown.

He plans to make a decision by the time Berkner starts the season.

Chinasa has a 3.3 GPA and took the SAT on Saturday.
