Pope hasn't named a favorite, though he said the Sooners and Trojans are two schools he has a good amount of interest in, while the hometown Aztecs are also in the mix.
"I was at the USC camp and I felt I did really well there, and the staff took an interest in me," said Pope. "And I like San Diego State. Coach (Ed) White is the line coach there and he is a great coach."
Pope spent most of his junior year as a defensive lineman, but is projecting to be an offensive lineman in college. "I've played a lot of defensive tackle, but my future is definitely at offensive lineman. I'm very aggressive, so the transition to playing offense shouldn't be that bad. I know I'm the type of player who could take the transition," Pope said.
Pope attended the Scout.com Combine. He said, "I felt I did well there. I got some feedback from some people there and they told me I was their #1 sleeper. And I'm only going to get better."
His summer plans include camps at San Diego State and USC, as well as possibly Colorado or Utah.
As a junior, Pope recorded 45 tackles at defensive tackle and eights sacks.
When it comes to picking a college, Pope said, "I'm really wide open. I want to take some trips, because I'm pretty open to any schools. I'm leaving all the doors open."
Academically, Pope is carrying a 2.5 GPA and took the SAT on June 4th.
