Stepheson Has Seven Schools

The 6-9 post from Studio City (Calif.) Harvard-Westlake, Alex Stepheson, has a good contingent of college coaches following him around, watching all of his games. He updates us on his recruitment, and his timetable for narrowing his list...

Alex Stepheson, the 6-9 senior post from Studio City (Calif.) Harvard-Westlake, said he'll try to narrow down his school list to five by mid-August.

"After July, and I see where I am, and the schools recruiting me, I'll narrow it down to the five schools I want to visit," Stepheson said.

Still on his list are Connecticut, Arizona, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Washington, Wake Forest and UCLA.

Stepheson said that all seven schools have offered him a scholarship but North Carolina.

When asked what schools he thinks he'd definitely visit, Stepheson said, "Definitely Arizona and Connecticut. The other visits I'm not sure about."

He did say, even though UCLA is local, he'd still take an official visit to Westwood, if he decided to do it. "I definitely would visit UCLA, if they end up in the top five. Definitely."

Stepheson said it's flattering to see all of the college coaches lined up around the court to watch him play. "I try not to look too much and stay focused on the game," he said. "But you really can't help but notice."

Believing he'll take all five official visits, Stepheson doesn't anticipate a quick decision. "I know I'll commit early (meaning in time for the early signing period in November), but I think I'll take until November to decide. I really want to take all my trips."
