Giddens Has Four Offers, Close to Five

The very speedy safety prospect from Louisiana who came to UCLA's summer camp, Troy Giddens, said he has four scholarship offers, but looks to get another this week from an important school on his list...

Hammond (La.) High safety Troy Giddens (6-0, 205) stands at four scholarship offers, with another one potentially on the way.

To date, UCLA, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Nebraska have all offered Giddens and he thinks an LSU offer could be coming soon.

"I'm leaving for their camp this week and I think if I do well, they may finally offer me," said Giddens.

Giddens had already attended the UCLA camp this summer, while also taking an unofficial visit to Ole Miss. "The (UCLA) camp was real fun. It's a nice campus, nice air, nice weather. Coach (Gary) DeLoach is a real nice guy. Coach (Larry) Kerr is funny. He's really cool. And Coach (Eric) Bieniemy is a great guy too. It was cool camping there," Giddens said.

A former Southern California native, Giddens moved from Thousand Oaks during his junior high years. Had he stayed in Southern California, he would have attended Newbury Park High. He said of the four schools offered and LSU: "Having a lot of family there is good. I like LSU too because it's close to my home now. I'm not really ready to narrow down my schools. Those schools are my top five though. I'm going to take my time, plus I want to take all of my trips."

Two other schools who have thrown some interest at Giddens are Auburn and Tennessee.

Also a trackster, Giddens wants to continue doing that in college. "I ran the 4x100, the 100m and do the long jump. I'd like to jump and do the relays in college," Giddens said.

During his junior season, Giddens recorded 171 tackles, 81 solo, 4 sacks and 2 interceptions, both for touchdowns.
