"UConn and UCLA both offered," said Thompson. "Gonzaga had kind of already offered before Vegas, but it became firm after Coach Few saw me there. Wake Forest told me if I play well in this tournament then they'll offer."
After our interview with Thompson, we were told by a Pac-10 coach that Kentucky is planning on offering Thompson as well.
We asked Thompson about the new offers from UConn and UCLA.
"Coach Howland said he liked the way I play down low and how UCLA would be a good fit for me," said Thompson. "Coach Calhoun talked about what he has done with other big men, like Okafor, and how UConn is a big-time program."
Thompson said he doesn't see himself making a decision anytime soon.
"I'll sit down with my Mom and coaches in August and we'll talk about which schools are serious and where I'll take my visits. I'll probably take the visits in September."
When asked if there were some schools that would definitely get visits, Thompson replied, "I'll probably visit Gonzaga. Arizona State, I'll probably visit, but it might be an unofficial since it is pretty close and I might want to keep my officials for other schools. I'll probably also take a visit to UConn."
We questioned Thompson about the factors that are important to him in choosing a school.
"Someplace that I feel is the best fit, where there is an opportunity to play, and someplace where they get the ball to their bigs."
