Fua piqued the Hurricanes interest with a standout performance at their camp, where he was named the MVP of the Offensive Line. "I would consider going to Miami. I would have no problem going out there for school," said Fua.
Fua said that each school recruiting him knows he plans on going on his Mormon mission, and they're all okay with it. He said, "I'm planning to go to school for a year then leave for my mission."
Fua said he was wide open in his college choices but that by September, he will have a more compact list.
"Right now, I'm trying to narrow it down by the end of summer. Then I'll know where I'm going to visit. I'm going to take all five trips, and those schools I narrow down to my top five will all get a visit. I'll decide after taking them all," Fua said.
Aside from the Miami camp, Fua also attended the Nike Camp at Stanford.
"It was the only combine I went to. I think I could have done better on the testing, but I did well on the drills during the day," said Fua. "I just did offensive line in the one-on-ones."
Interestingly, Fua said that his plan is to play defensive line in college, not offensive line, despite spending most of his time this spring being evaluated as an offensive lineman.
"I want to play defensive line. Right now, that's what I'm feeling. If I play offense, it would be at guard or center," Fua said.
A strong student, Fua sports a 4.0 GPA and took the SAT in the Spring.
