Elk Grove (Calif.) Laguna Creek defensive end De'Shon Matthews (6-5, 250) has ten scholarship offers, recently adding a Fresno State offer to his list.

Besides the Bulldogs, the list includes Arizona, Nebraska, Washington State, Washington, Nevada, Sacramento State, Oregon State, San Jose State and Colorado.

"My favorites are still Cal and UCLA, though. Arizona, Washington and Fresno State are my other top schools," said Matthews. "I think Cal and UCLA will probably offer me when the season starts after they watch some of my games."

Matthews had originally set up an official visit to Nebraska, but is not sure if that will be happening. "I don't know about that trip. As of right now, I'm going to say I don't have any trips set up," Matthews said.

He does plan to take trips to Arizona and Washington, though they haven't been set yet. He also took an unofficial to Fresno State.

During the summer, Matthews attended the Cal camp as well as a team camp at Fresno State, after which the Bulldogs offered him. "I did real good at the Cal camp. I was one of the best defensive linemen there. They said I was one of their MVP's," Matthews said.

Matthews said he wouldn't be rushing to his decision, planning to wait it out and take some trips. He said, "I still want to wait. I'm not sure yet if I'll take all of my trips, but I want to take a couple."

As a junior, Matthews had 81 tackles, 14 tackles for loss including 6 sacks, a fumble recovery and 1 blocked punt.

Academically, Matthews has a 2.7 GPA and took the SAT in June.
