VIDEO: Dorrell Announces a Starter

Head Coach Karl Dorrell ended the relatively limited suspense today and announced which quarterback would start the San Diego State game...

Head Coach Karl Dorrell named Drew Olson, the senior quarterback, the starter for next Saturday's opener against San Diego State.

Today's practice was in shells again, to give the team a chance to get further healed. There will be no practice Sunday and then a full-scale practice Monday.

Personnel Update:

Ben Olson had the wrap taken off his bruised left hand for today's practice, but only threw very lightly. He did say he expected to participate completely in Monday's practice.

Linebacker Wesley Walker didn't have pads on, but ran lightly.

Cornerback Rodney Van was out of the red, no-hit jersey.

Offensive lineman Chris Joseph, who looked to be slated to start at the weakside guard position, didn't participate in practice and had a very large ice pack on his left knee. Senior Robert Cleary took most of the snaps with the #1 offense at weakside guard.

Running back Kahlil Bell looked like he tweaked an ankle or knee.

Defensive tackle Brigham Harwell practiced lightly.

Strong safety Jarrad Page sat out most of the team drills with a strained calf muscle, but is expected to be fine by Saturday.
