Bush Will Have His Pick

San Diego Helix running back Reggie Bush is considered the #1 running back prospect on the west coast right now and is an excellent student. It's early, but does UCLA have a chance?

Reggie Bush, 6-0, 183, San Diego (Calif.) Helix will likely be the top-ranked running back on the west coast this recruiting season, and he is also one of the top students at the position as well.

Besides gaining approximately 2,100 yards and scored 36 TDs as a junior he carries a 3.9 GPA. "It is down a bit from my freshman year when it was 4.0," Bush said. He will be taking the ACT in May.

Bush didn't say he had an early favorite school, but he did say that he's getting a great deal of attention from Stanford. He has offers from Stanford, UCLA, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Colorado St., USC, Arizona, and San Diego State to mention a few. "My first choice is to stay in California because it is close to home and the weather is great," he said.

He will be attending the Oregon Nike Camp in June, but right now he has no plans to attend any school camps over the summer.

His cousin is J.C. Pierson, a defensive back who played at Washington then played in the NFL for nearly 10 years. "He is helping me with the college decision, because he has been through the process."

A multi-talented athlete, he is using his speed off the football field as well. "Right now I'm in track and that is taking all of my time." Bush is running in the 100 (10.5 personal best as a sophomore), 200, 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

Despite the recruiting effort from Stanford and many other schools as well, Bush said he intends to take all his visits before making a decision.
