Washington D-End Has a Leader

Spanaway (Wash.) Spanaway Lake defensive end Jason Brace (6-5, 245) has received a steady volume of calls since September 1st, though he has received any additional scholarship offers.

"The main schools I heard from were UCLA, Oregon and Boise State," said Brace.

One of the top defensive linemen in Washington, Brace is holding four scholarship offers, while waiting to see if the local Washington schools will add to that.

His offers are from UCLA, Idaho, Portland State and Eastern Washington while Oregon and Boise State are on the cusp of offering. He's also waiting on offers from Washington and Washington State.

"I know some of the other schools want to see some of my film, but I think I'll start adding some more offers here pretty soon," said Brace.

He said UCLA was his top school, closely followed by Oregon and Boise State, but that he's not closing the door on anyone. "I'm waiting to see what all of my options are before I start narrowing down the schools," said Brace.

Brace is being recruited by UCLA offensive coordinator Tom Cable.

"I haven't set up an official visit yet, but I plan to take one there, probably after my season," said Brace.

Brace's season got under way at Spanaway Lake when they opened up with a loss to Puyallup last weekend. "I was pretty much double and triple-teamed all night," Brace said.

Brace, who was recently selected to the Seattle Times All-Area Preseason Team on the defensive line and finished his junior year with 18 tackles-for-loss, said he will begin to schedule visits during the season.
