Fairfield (Calif.) High wide receiver/defensive back DeLaShaun Dean (6-3, 190) has taken his 20-plus scholarship offers and narrowed it down to six schools with one school out in front.

"It's down to Oregon, Washington, UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State and Nebraska," said Dean. "Oregon is my leader, but I'm not ready to commit anywhere yet."

Dean will begin taking trips this weekend when he visits Lincoln to see Nebraska host Iowa State. "I'm looking forward to taking my trips. Nebraska is far from home, but they have a great tradition," said Dean.

Dean plans to visit Washington in October, but said he wasn't sure when he would visit Oregon, UCLA and the two Arizona schools. "I may wait until after my season is done, but I'm not too sure," said Dean, who is being recruited by UCLA tight ends coach Jon Embree.

And with teammate Jamarr Robinson committing to Arizona State, would that affect Dean's decision? "We've talked about playing in college together, but he's got to do what is best for him and I have to do what the best is for me," said Dean.

His senior year has gotten off to a slow start, as Fairfield has started 0-3, and Dean hasn't been thrown the ball much. "It's hard because I'm a competitive player and I want to win. We'll get it going though," Dean said.

Dean attended camps at Nevada, Cal, UCLA and USC, and the Nike Camp at Stanford last spring.

As a junior, Dean had 25 catches for 750 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Dean has a 3.0 GPA and will retake the SAT in the fall.
