Things Heating Up with Patterson?

The 5-10, 180-pound talented receiver from Long Beach Poly, Travon Patterson, says he's been hearing more from UCLA recently. He tells us about his entire recruiting picture, and his official visits coming up...

Long Beach (Calif.) Poly receiver Travon Patterson (5-10, 180) has shaped his eight scholarship offers into a top five, but outside of that list the two Los Angeles schools are coming on stronger.

"Oregon, Arizona, Washington State, Oregon State and Colorado are my top five," said Patterson. "USC is liking me but they haven't said if they are going to offer me soon or not. UCLA, I'm starting to hear a lot more from. They are waiting for my transcripts and I have a feeling they will offer me when they see them."

Patterson's top five have all offered him, to go with offers from Washington, Utah and Wyoming.

"If UCLA or USC were to offer me, they'd be in my top five and someone else would drop out," said Patterson. "Those are two schools I really like because they are close to home."

Patterson attended this past weekend's UCLA-Cal game at the Rose Bowl with Poly teammate Terrance Austin and with so many former teammates playing in the game, Patterson took note.

"It was a great game. There was a lot of excitement and the crowd was very hyped. I was pretty hyped. There was a lot of intensity during the game. It was good to see my boy DeSean Jackson play and I saw him and Rodney (Van) and Byron (Velaga) all talking to each other before the game, getting themselves all hyped up talking mess to each other," said Patterson. "But I know it was in fun because Poly is a big family. Those guys are all cool with each other."

It was the second game that Patterson had been to at the Rose Bowl this year, having gone to the Rice game in September. He also has attended a USC game, when they played Arkansas.

This weekend, Patterson heads up to Eugene for an official visit to Oregon, when the Ducks host Washington. "I'm really looking forward to going up there. It's my first official trip so I'm interested in seeing the school and the football facilities," Patterson said.

Patterson will take his second trip on November 12th when he goes to Washington State and then he'll visit Arizona on January 13th.

"The other two visits I'm leaving open to see if either USC or UCLA offer me," Patterson said. "I'm going to take all of my trips, see the experience and see how it is at different schools. I won't make a decision until January or February."

When asked if his family wants him to stay close to home or not, Patterson said, "Of course, my family would like me to be close by, but they are leaving it up to me. They know I have made a great future for myself." On the year, Patterson has 10 catches for 279 yards and 4 touchdowns and has returned a pair of punts back for touchdowns.
