"The schools that have offered me like me as a safety, but I'm having fun playing running back this year," Culbert said. "I'll play wherever the coaches want me though, it doesn't matter, just whatever gets me on the field."
"UCLA is my top school right now, but I like Nebraska, USC, Oregon and Ca,l too," said Culbert. "I'm hoping that Oregon, Cal and USC all offer me but I don't know." Culbert has attended a couple of UCLA home games this year, including the Bruins' matchup with California two weeks ago. He said, "That game was very intense. Both teams wanted to win and they both played really hard. UCLA kept fighting and showed how much they wanted it."
Culbert said he is hoping to be at UCLA's game with Oregon State this weekend.
He has already taken one official visit, to Nebraska, and said he is still waiting to put the other four trips together. "Nebraska was real cool," Culbert said. "The fans really get behind the team and the coaches were really good to talk to. I met some of the players and they talked about how the school is and we saw all of the facilities. It was a good trip."
Ideally, Culbert said he'd like to stay in California, or more specifically, Southern California. "My family would like me to stay close to home so they can watch me play and have me close by. I'm looking at some schools outside of California, but I think I'd like to stay close to home too," said Culbert.
On the season, Culbert has rushed for 1,145 yards through six games and has scored nine touchdowns for the Gauchos. He has already surpassed his yard totals for his junior year.
Culbert has a 2.7 core GPA and is retaking the SAT in November.
