Russell Westbrook, 6-2 SR SG Lawndale (Calif.) Leuzinger, is a late-bloomer who ranks among the top guards in the west for 2006.

We spoke with Westbrook last night and asked about the schools recruiting him.

"Kent State, Creighton, Wyoming and UCLA are the ones I've been hearing from," said Westbrook. "I took an official visit to Kent State last weekend and I visited Creighton a few weeks ago."

We asked Westbrook for his impressions of the two visits and he replied, "Kent State was nice. The players are nice and the staff is cool. The area there was nice. Cold, but nice. And Creighton was good – they have nice facilities."

Westbrook told us he doesn't plan on taking anymore visits in the near future. "I'm not sure about the rest of my visits. I'm not planning on taking any soon."

UCLA just became involved with Westbrook recently and we asked about the Bruins.

"I'm interested in UCLA," said Westbrook. "They haven't talked about a visit or anything yet, but they came out to my high school to see me last Tuesday. I think they're looking more to the spring."

Westbrook has a GPA of around 3.6 and he's waiting on the results from a recent SAT test.
