Nuveman Breaks Record

The Bruin softball slugger, Stacey Nuveman, became the all-time leader for career home runs in NCAA history last weekend...

Stacey Nuveman, UCLA's senior catcher, blasted the 86th home run of her career Saturday afternoon, breaking the NCAA all-time career record for home runs.

She did it in a 10-1 win over Oregon State.

Nuveman then hit the 87th home run of her career on Sunday against the Beavers in an 8-0 win for the #1-ranked Bruins.

The record was previously held by Arizona's Leah Braatz and Laura Espinoza.

In probably the biggest game of the season, the Bruins will face #2 Arizona on Friday at UCLA's Easton Stadium at 2:00 p.m. The game could decide the Pac-10 championship and the #1 ranking in the country.  UCLA will then finish its regular season games on Saturday in a doubleheader against Arizona State.
