It's already accepted within the UCLA football program that he'll announce he's making himself eligible for the NFL draft.
The word is that Drew is feeling some pressure to put his name into the draft from people close to him. Previoulsy Drew had wanted some assurances that he'd be a first-day pick, but hasn't received them from any NFL sources. Despite that, some close to him are worried about the amount of injuries Drew has suffered in the last two years and think it's best that he put his name into the draft this spring.
There are rumors that running backs coach Eric Bieniemy was offered and accepted the running backs coaching position with the Minnesota Vikings. Our sources are indicating that that is flatly untrue, and that Bieniemy hasn't even been contacted by the Viking organization.
The latest feeling around the program is that the jobs of the assistant coaches are secure. There had been some rumors and speculation about Larry Kerr, the defensive coordinator, possibly being replaced. But the recent word is that Kerr's job is safe. Actually, we've heard that other assistant coaches were possibly more likely to be replaced, if any, but as of now Head Coach Karl Dorrell intends to come back next season with the same staff intact.
If any changes were to be made, Dorrell would be able to mingle with any potential candidates at the annual coaches convention, which starts next week in Dallas. This is the annual event by the AFCA (American Football Coaches Association) that coaches attend to primarily schmooze other coaches.
But as we stated, what we've heard lately is that no changes are likely to be made to the staff for next season.
