Hamilton Becoming Hot

Lynell Hamilton, 6-0, 195, Stockton (Calif.) Edison, solidified his position as one of the best running backs in the west at the Palo Alto Nike Camp on Saturday. And in a year when the running back position is extremely thin, both in the west and nationally, Hamilton could become one of the hottest commodities among west coast prospects.

Hamilton, even though he was nursing a tender hamstring, still looked good in the drills at camp. Being a pretty big back, he looks fluid and athletic. He didn't run the 40 because of his injury.

Hamilton said that he's pretty wide open at this point. "I want to see who's going to recruit me," he said. "Before I'd ever make a decision."

He did say that Miami, Notre Dame, Fresno State, and Washington were among his favorites. When asked about any other west coast schools he could be interested in, he said UCLA, USC and Colorado.

Is leaving the west coast a big factor for him? "Not all all," he said. "I'm open to going anywhere, to a school that fits me. I want to get a degree from a good school, that's what's most important."

Hamilton said he has 3.2 GPA and he'll take the SAT in June.
